Okay, so let me explain.
Yes, I did give up on my reading challenge. But it’s not because I don’t want to read! In the almost four months of 2018, I have read seven books. Which honestly for me? That’s really good, I am really proud of myself. I went to book club in January & February, and read March’s book club book. But then came April’s. I only got 30 pages in before I realized that I couldn’t do it.
I want to read what I want. And for the most part, my reading challenge and book club just wasn’t it. I loved the fellowship book club offered, and I loved pushing myself out of my comfort zone. I do owe the motivation that I’ve had to read so much to those deadlines and boxes that I wanted to check off my list. BUT…I can still do those things, I can just sub it out with books I actually am wanting to read.
I’m leaving on a jet plane on Tuesday, which means lots of airport reading time. So that’s going to be filed with “Carry On” by Rainbow Rowell. THEN I’m going to embark on a big one…I want to read all 13 Series of Unfortunate Events books in 13 days. Woof.
Shoutout time. I am so proud and impressed of a couple of my friends right now that I have to talk about them. My friend Spencer has a youtube channel, Common Spence, and he is just KILLING. IT. The video below is a huge reason of why I decided to just start reading what I want to read – because I want to read most of the books he talks about in this video!
Next up is my friend Jeana. She and I embarked on this reading challenge together (sorry girl), and she started her own blog, The Drunk Quill. Ummm…can you say blog goals? Her blog is what dreams are made of.
So…yeah. I quit my reading challenge. But I’m also excited to write about how much I read this year because honestly? I think it’s gonna be my best reading year yet.
